Xiaomi Mi 9 now gets MIUI 12.5 update based on Android 11
Xiaomi is moving forward with the latest MIUI 12.5 update, and the latest phone with this skin version is Europe’s MI9. This is actually a double celebration for MI9 owners, as not only is the phone getting MIUI 12.5, but the basic version of Android has also changed, which has jumped from Android 10 to Android 11.
That’s a big deal, again, symbolically – the download is 2.4GB, so if you’re on a capped data plan, make sure you use Wi-Fi to capture it.
The new build is labeled MIUI V18.104.22.168.RFEUXM, and as we have already mentioned (and specifies “EU” in the name), it is going to MIU 9 units that are European Were sold in the markets. As you can see from the Changelog screenshots above, this construction is labeled “stable”, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that all the MI9 units in the wild are now available, as Xiaomi Likes to roll out very small at first, there are definitely no intruders.
If all goes well, there should be a massive rollout in the coming weeks. Of course, if you bought MI9 from Europe, you can always check manually, maybe you will be one of the lucky ones.
The channel itself is basically like every other MIUI 12.5 rollout, which mentions “20 times more rendering power” for the system, “Custom Device Model Adjustment” which makes any phone faster. Should, and things like “MIUI become lighter, faster, and more durable”, whatever that means. You’re also getting the level of the security patch for June 2021, although it is likely that all MI9 units will install this update by this time in August – but only regretted the security update in MIUI-Land. That’s it.
Finally, the Notes app is getting a great update to MIUI 12.5, which includes support for dynamic layouts, complex structures with brain maps, new tools for doodling and sketching, a new gesture shortcut, and quotes.
