WVU’s Social Media Team Wins Best Central Social Market Team of the Year | Online news
Ten members of WVU’s social media marketing team have earned the honor of being HigherEDSocial’s best central marketing team of the year.
The team, led by Tony Dobies, Chief Marketing Officer, has been recognized for its work by making full use of social media marketing methods. This year, the team was nominated for its online skills and loyalty to WVU’s social media campaigns and accounts. The team consists of: Michael Cervelli, a social media expert; Geoff Coyle, senior social media editor; Morgan Goff, marketing strategist; Sean Hines, Social Media Specialist; Rickie Huffman, Marketing; Adrienne Kemp-Rye, student social worker; Corbin Mills; student social media employee; Kallie Nealis, Social Media Specialist; David Ryan, Chief Marketing Officer, and Mark Webb, Social Media.
This is the first year that HigherED holds an award ceremony where social media departments are recognized. More than 100 different organizations were part of the competition.
“The team has done a great job of managing and monitoring social media accounts at perhaps the worst time. “In general, social media is full of such negativity – especially during a pandemic,” Dobies said. “But this group has been able to continue its vigorous work, promote the university, send messages about key information about COVID-19 protocols and more.”
Dobies said that the WVU social media team showed resilience and perseverance at a time when constant negativity and glaze were the norm on social media. Examples of their work include the video “Country Roads”, filled with celebrities and famous mountaineers, a survey that increasingly focused on social media managers and their mental health, and maintaining consistency during the COVID-19 pandemic.
