Woman killed by gunfire on I-80 near Bay Bridge ID’d

Authorities on Friday identified a woman who died Thursday when she was shot while riding in the passenger seat of a car bound for the Bay Bridge.

The California Highway Patrol has continued to investigate the murder of 29-year-old Amani Morris of Union City. She died after bullets pierced the SUV she was riding with a man and two juveniles.

The Alameda County Bureau of Investigation released Morris’ identity Friday afternoon.

The driver and the two men were not hurt or hurt. Authorities did not say how old the two juveniles were or whether everyone in the car was related.

The shooting is the second fatal accident on a Gulf region highway in less than two weeks. The funeral of 1-year-old Jasper Wu of Fremont was held on Friday. Wu was fatally shot while sitting in the seat of his car while his parents were driving on I-580 two weeks ago.

Morris was shot as the SUV was driving west toward Interstate 80, just east of the West Grand Avenue exit as it approached Bay Bridge, according to a statement from the California Highway Patrol. The agency was notified around 9:12 a.m.
