In September, Experimental Sound Studio opened a file retrospective exhibition Written by Chicago wind instrument and multidisciplinary artist Douglas R. Ewart at Audible Gallery at 5925 N. Ravenswood. His paintings, installations, sculptures, masks, musical instruments, and more will be on display via a small group appointment until Sunday, December 12. Saturday 16 October, 7 p.m., Ewart’s Sonic Bamboo Rhizomes trio (with co-founder of ESS Lou Maluzzi and founding director of the Chicago Modern Philharmonic Project Renee Baker) make a presentation called Free sage bamboo water In High Concept Labs at 2233 S. Throop. Ewart is a member of Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, this collection is dedicated to AACM Seniors Lester Hilmar Lashley, Wallace MacMillan (also known as Larry Roosevelt MacMillan), and Reginald “Reggie” Willis.
