Wind-driven fire in Sacramento County destroys 30 buildings

Strong winds ignited the flames that swept through a mobile home park in Sacramento County Monday night, destroying at least 30 buildings and threatening at least 20 others, officials said.

Shortly after 4 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a plant fire on the edge of the mobile home park, Deputy Fire Chief Hugh Henderson From the Delta River Fire District according to ABC10.

TV station The portable home park has been identified as Rancho Marina RV Park off Brannan Island Road, near Isleton Island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River delta.

By late Monday night, the fire was 30 percent contained and winds continued to hamper firefighters’ ability to control the blaze, Henderson said.

“At this point we are making good progress,” he said. “I think we’ll be staying here all night.”

Henderson said there were no reports of injuries or missing persons.

He said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
