In the post-game media session, I was curious how the Giants celebrated the big win and their manager’s birthday.

“The guys brought me a beautiful steak bun, which I thought was very creative,” Kapler said.
Often times, the story ends there. But I wondered, who made such a cake? Enter Tara Munzo from the Bay Area.
“We got an order that came at the last minute, my sister heard it was for the manager of SF Giants,” he said Cake Queen and Coffee Bar Owned by Tara Monzo. Monzo’s sister, Jaden Boussard, a manager at the company, remembers receiving the phone call.
“I was like giants, let’s take it,” said Boussard. “Let’s do what we can, we can’t refuse this.”

Monzo and her team at the South San Francisco-based company took the call from the front desk and stepped up to the plate to make steak cake a reality. Cake and all sides including baked potatoes are all made with edible red velvet cake.
“We wanted to cut it up and make it look red and look meaty,” Monzo said.
It turned out that the cake looked very real, and none of the giants wanted to eat it.
Giants player LaMonte Wade Jr. said, “I’ve never seen anything like this before. A group of guys taking pictures of it. I’m sure no one is really eating it because everyone wanted to take pictures and everyone was in awe of it.”
The next day, I asked Kapler, who is famous for his good health, if he ate cake. He said he didn’t, but he heard it was very good.
Monzo’s business of custom-made cakes and other pastries is no stranger to creating custom cakes for Bay Area celebrities. Her business has made custom cakes for Bay Area Warriors hub Kevin Looney and rapper Saweetie. Sometimes cakes are so beautiful, customers don’t want to eat them. However, Monzo suggests you should eat the cake.
“You have to eat the cake, you have to taste it too,” said Monzo. “(Customers) are like us we don’t want to cut it. I love to cut it, cut it. We made it, so you can eat it.”
