Walnut Creek City Council approves new police funding in response to Nordstrom-style robberies

WALNUT CREEK, CA (KGO) – Walnut Creek City Council approved new funding Wednesday in response to Nordstrom smashed and snatched the burglary on November 20.

Council members unanimously agreed to spend $2 million to pay for five new police officers and increase the overtime budget for the police.

“This is the measure that will have the immediate effect, which is to increase our overtime in order to allow two additional officers, eight hours a day, three days a week,” city manager Dan Bocchi said.

The additional money, which comes from federal stimulus funds, will help pay for new security cameras to bolster the system already in place in the city.
