Twitter’s stronger-than-expected Q2 results, shares jump
Twitter posted stronger-than-expected earnings in the second quarter
On Thursday, Twitter posted higher-than-expected revenue for the second quarter thanks to growing demand for advertising in other geographies and advertising product categories.
The San Francisco-based company earned 65.6 million or 8 cents per share in the April-June quarter. That’s up from نقصان 1.38 billion a year ago, or 1. 1.75 per share.
Revenue exceeded Wall Street expectations, rising 74 percent to وال 1.19 billion from 68 683.4 million. Advertising revenue nearly doubled in the United States alone.
Analysts expect, on average, 7 cents per share and 1. 1.07 billion in earnings, according to a FactSet survey.
Twitter said it expects revenue of between 22 1.22 billion and 1. 1.3 billion in the current quarter. Analysts are forecasting 1.17 billion.
As expected, the number of daily subscribers has increased by 116% from a year ago to 206 million.
Shares of Twitter rose 5.86, or 8.4 percent, to 75.43 in after-hours trading. The stock closed at 69 69.57, up 7 cents.
