Tottenham vs Brentford Live: Goal updates as Davinson Sanchez and Oliver Skipp start

Here are Alasdair’s thoughts on the Tottenham squad

Antonio Conte maintained his confidence in the starting line-up that was due to fight against Burnley on Sunday.

He’s not bursting with creativity, but the Italian is clearly trying to find a solid starting player, training them in his philosophy and demands.

Davinson Sanchez had a chance to redeem himself after such a poor showing in Slovenia, but he hopes playing on the right instead of the left will make him more comfortable during the confrontation.

In the middle, Conte clearly loves to make Hojbjerg and Skipp, which means Ndombele and Winks stay on the bench.

Up front, Kane, Son and Lucas are unlikely to shake off their starting points at the moment, but the sheer number of matches in the coming weeks will see others get their chances and, unlike Maribor, they will have to take advantage of them.

Sunday’s postponement will allow Conte at least more training time to work with his players on the Hotspur Way and look their ways.

That may be exactly what was needed before this game against a Brentford side that has given the bigger teams a real test of the season and some worries.
