The Patriots react to the prospect of adding Odell Beckham Jr. – The Boston Herald
FOXBORO – As they prepare for the Browns this week, the Patriots have repeatedly stressed the need to play physically by saying they should “wear their hard hats” on Sunday.
On Wednesday, as speculation swirls, the front office may sign a free agent at large with Odell Beckham Jr. A few players wore their GM hats instead.
Here’s what Mac Jones, Devin McCourty and Nelson Agulor had to say about the prospect of becoming team members with Beckham.
“I think he’s a great player, and he has a choice to make. It’s up to him. Yes, that’s pretty much it.”
“We have really good receptions here, and anyone who wants to help us win obviously benefits the team. Obviously I’ll leave that up to coach Belichick. … I know for a fact that he always wants people to come here and help us win.”
“I think he’s a fantastic player. I think he’s a very special talent, and I wish him well. I love the receivers we have here, and it’s not in my position to worry about that. But I wish him well, and I know that in the end, whoever takes him is going to do his job.” I wish him well, because he is a good player.”
“A really good player. I feel like everything I’m going to say is going to be like (a) the headline: McCourty says blah, blah blah about Odell Beckham joining the Patriots. Really a good player, he’s played with a few times. I’ve had two conversations, he seems like a great guy. I think That everyone will be looking at Twitter when they make a decision….so I’m going to wait for someone to tweet, and I’ll see.”
