The FA announces an independent investigation into the Wembley chaos
The Football Association has announced an independent investigation led by Baroness Casey of Blackstock into “disgraceful scenes” at the Euro 2020 final at Wembley.
The review, which is expected to take several months, will investigate how fans without tickets were able to enter the stadium for England’s final against Italy. There were also allegations of corruption implicated on match day.
Casey, who has worked with both the Labor and Conservative governments as a consultant on crime and antisocial behaviour, will use outside experts as part of her review. It is also expected that policing will be considered in the final.
The Football Association said it notified the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) of the review over the weekend
