The Evansville family received COVID-19 vaccines instead of flu shots
Evansville, Indiana (WEHT) – The Evansville family is seeking legal help after their attorney said Receive COVID-19 vaccinations Instead of last week’s flu shots.
According to attorney Dan Tully, Joshua and Alexandra Price and their two children, ages four and five, received adult doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine from Walgreens on St. Joe’s Street on October 4 when they went there to get their flu shots. Tully says the parents got a call from Walgreens about 90 minutes later telling them there had been an error. He said the parents contacted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and health officials.
Tully says Walgreens did not comply with multiple price requests for CDC vaccination record cards until the next day. He says Walgreens employees apologized for mixing up the vaccine when Josh returned to pick up required vaccination registration cards from the CDC.
Parents say their children fell ill after receiving the vaccine, including fever, body aches, cough, headache and nausea. The youngest had a fever for more than a week as of October 11. A pediatric cardiologist told them that the children showed signs of heart problems after receiving the injections and that their prognosis was uncertain.
In a statement, Walgreens said such cases are rare and that they take these matters very seriously. A company spokesperson says their multi-step vaccination procedure includes several safety checks to reduce the chance of human error.
Tully says no lawsuit has been filed at this time.
