In economic reports, the number of people who filed for unemployment benefits around Thanksgiving rose to more than 200,000, partially reversing the previous week’s big drop that drove jobless claims to a 52-year low. . Markets were pressured as concerns emerged regarding the omicron variant of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
