The digital locker app Movies Anywhere adds AI-powered lists to manage your library – TechCrunch.

Movies Anywhere, an app that allows you to centralize your digital movie collection across all services, is introducing a new feature that will help you improve your growing library. The company today introduced an AI-powered feature called “MyLists”, which automatically aggregates movies based on any factors – such as gender, actor, franchise, theme and more.

For digital movie collectors with large libraries, this feature may feel like scrolling through the options available, scrolling through the recommendations you’ll find on a modern streaming service like Netflix. That is, instead of scrolling down through the endless pages that show you all your purchased movies or showing them alphabetically, as before, you can now quickly scan the rows where the content is sorted in this way. Which makes it easy to discover what’s in your library.

For example, if you bought all the movies from a particular franchise, they would now be in your queue together. It’s an improvement over how you first had to find those movies in your collection – where they will be sandwiched between franchise purchases and other titles you’ve purchased.

You may also discover that you own a lot of movies within a certain category, such as “action thrillers”, or main-themed movies, such as “Strong Women’s Friendship” Can help reduce choices.

These algorithmically generated lists can also be edited, allowing you to add or delete titles-or delete lists altogether.

Plus, you can now create your own lists. So you can make a list of favorite movies you want to watch with your family, or you can organize your collection further. You can even use this feature to make a “watch” list of your movies, but haven’t had time yet.

The Movie Anywhere app has been around for years, but now that it has migrated to a new platform in 2017, it is being run jointly by Disney, Universal, WB, Sony Pictures and 20th Century Fox. You can get all the movies that you have purchased from different services in one place. This includes digital downloads offered by iTunes, Voodoo, Prime Video, YouTube, XFanti and others. Before that, you’ll need to switch from app to app to see if you’ve ever purchased a given title.

MyList is one of the many features that the company has added over time to keep your app feeling current. Last year, for example, it introduced a digital movie landing feature called ScreenPass, and it had earlier launched a viewing feature called Watch Together that allows users to watch up to nine friends. The new MyList movies are now available on streaming devices anywhere from the mobile app, desktop and navigation bar.
