All eyes now turn to the draw, with Klopp’s side hoping for a pleasant draw. Liverpool was placed in Pot 2 alongside La Liga giants Real Madrid, Barcelona and Seville, Premier League rivals Manchester UnitedLionel Messi is inspired by Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.
That leaves European champions Villarreal and league champions from Germany, Italy, Spain, France and Portugal.
Liverpool will want to avoid Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich, but will be dazzled by their chances against Inter Milan without Romelu Lukaku, French Ligue 1 champion Lille and Portuguese champion Sporting Lisbon.
There are some tough times ahead in Pot 3, as RB Leipzig and Atalanta can make a splash.
There are still links to be completed before Powers 3 and 4 are officially confirmed, but even the lowest bet includes some huge European clubs like AC Milan and Wolfsburg.
