St. THOMAS, Virgin Islands (AP) – Jordan Nixon and Destiny Bates scored 12 points, Kayla Wells added 10 and seeded Texas A&M used 23 points late to pull out for a 57-46 win over Pittsburgh Thursday night at Paradise Jam. .

Wells and Bates made 3 consecutive throws and Nixon added a jump and a three before Bates fired two free throws to make it 13-1 in the final four minutes.

Malle Johnson finished with nine points and eight rebounds for Texas (5-0).

The Aggies won a program record of 21 consecutive games without conferences, dated by a loss against Florida State on December 1, 2019.

Dashanette Harris led Pete (4-1) with 16 points, Liatu King scored 10 points and got 19 rebounds.

Texas A&M, which entered the game shooting 48.1% out of 3-point range — #1 nationally — averaging 89.0 points per game, fired just 29% (21 of 72) from the field, including 6 of 19 ( 31,6%) from behind the arch. However, the Aggies made 4 out of 6 overall and 3 out of 4 out of a 3-point range down the stretch.

Pete only made one field goal and went 3 of 6 from the free throw line during the last six minutes.
