BOSTON (CBS) – Two Boston police officers were shot while responding to an hours-long standoff in Dorchester on Tuesday. Their injuries are considered non-life-threatening. Sources in the team said that one of the officers was shot in the leg.
Police said a suspect was hiding inside a house who was shot. According to I-Team sources, this person has passed away.
It happened on Ferndale Street. The neighborhood is closed.
A number of officers and rapid response trucks responded.
The confrontation lasted from six to seven hours, but during the afternoon eyewitnesses heard the police shouting “Down the gun.” They said they heard a flash around 3:30 p.m., and then heard gunshots.
