A man who police said was an Uber driver on his way to pick up a customer was among five people arrested in Suffolk County late Wednesday and early Thanksgiving for allegedly drunk driving, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office said.
Suffolk Police said in a news release that Ezio Casimire Jr., 46, of Bellport, was stopped on Nichols Road, north of Greenbelt Parkway, after he was driving 80 mph. Police said he recorded a blood alcohol concentration of .10 and was arrested for a DWI. Police said he told a deputy sheriff he was on his way to pick up an Uber customer.
In addition to Casimirri, the Holbrook woman was arrested on an aggravated DWI charge for allegedly driving while her blood alcohol concentration was .21, police said. It was parked on Veterans Trail north of Sunrise Highway for failing to keep the lane and not turning on lights at night.
Three more Suffolk residents were cited on DWI.
