The much-awaited first trailer for Spencer Diana, Princess of Wales A drama, which was revealed just days before its premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
The movie he is starring in Kristen Stewart, shows us just three days over the Christmas period in Sandringham, where Diana chose to end her marriage to Charles. Directed by Pablo Larrain, the Chilean director who previously landed Natalie Portman for Best Actress for his popular drama Jackie, which revolves around Jackie Kennedy’s life after her husband’s assassination.
“It’s hard not to feel protective of her.” Stewart said about Diana back in 2020. “It was so small…Everyone’s perspective is different, and there is no way to right everything…What is the truth in terms of personal experience.”
The movie also stars Sally Hawkins. Timothy Spall and Polark villain Jack Farthing as Charles.
Larryn, whose credits also include Neruda and the latest episode of the horror series on Apple TV + Lisey’s Story, spoke to Eagle about his concerns that the audience might be wrong with the film.
“I think some people might misunderstand it,” he said. Before they go see a movie like Spencer, they might say, “We’ll really understand who this person was.” No! wrong number! Wrong movie! We don’t do that! We’re just trying to work with whatever that person was and create a legend out of it. That’s what I’m looking for. We’ll see if it works.”
Spencer arrives amid an abundance of other projects around Diana, including the Broadway musical that opens in November and the new season of The Crown that will premiere Elizabeth Debicki She took on the role from Emma Corinne, who was recently nominated for an Emmy after winning a Golden Globe.
Stewart’s performance is seen as an early contender for the awards that would put her alongside other bets including Lady Gaga for her role in House of Gucci and Nicole Kidman in Being the Ricardos.
The film will be shown in competition next month in Venice Film Festival Along with The Power of the Dog by Jane Campion and The Lost Daughter by Maggie Gyllenhaal. It will open in cinemas in November.
