Space Jam 2 star responds to Pepé Le Pew controversy

Space Jam: A New Legacy Star Gabriel Iglesias has addressed a controversy over the film that saw the original character Pepé Le Pew cut from the sequel.

The Looney Tunes The character is famous for her constant pursuit of love. Usually seen paired with the Penelope Pussycat and sometimes the Sylvester, black cats are mistaken for a skunk, often after they accidentally get a white stripe on their back.

The scene was reported to have seen Pepé be reprimanded for his aggressive courtship. The character was to appear as a waiter who beats Penelope (as he played her Jane the Virgin Actress Greice Santo) kissed her arm. She then turns away from the skunk before bumping into another chair, pouring her drink on him and slapping him.

It was later announced that Penelope had filed a restraining order against him before LeBron warned James Pepé that he could not touch other people without consent.

Movie star Gabriel Iglesias – who voted for Speedy Gonzalez – responded to the controversial decision to cut off the character and nature of Pepe Le Pio in an interview cinepop.

“You know, years ago I grew up watching cartoons, I think it was a different time and you don’t see things the same way. Times have changed, opinions have changed, and at the moment I can’t say I’ve ever seen it in a negative light,” Iglesias said.

“But based on today’s climate, well, I get it, I see it, OK. It was one of those things where times have changed. I don’t think people are going to intentionally try to make something inappropriate. But then again, times change and we need to evolve and so Unfortunately the character was cut off.”

Warner Bros. has not yet commented on the matter.
