Sex and the City star Willie Garson died of pancreatic cancer

The cause of death for Willie Garson was pancreatic cancer.

The Sex and the City actor, who recently reprized his role as Stanford Blatch for the upcoming reboot And Just Like That…, passed away on September 21 at the age of 57.

It is not known how long he has been battling the disease, but Garson’s cause of death was confirmed in an obituary published in the New York Times on Thursday.

William Garson Passamant, better known as Willie Garson to many of his fans and throughout the entertainment industry, famous actor of stage, film and television, has died at the age of 57 at his home in Los Angeles. The cause was pancreatic cancer.”

It will go on to be remembered for Garson’s highly successful career in Hollywood, which included 300 appearances and television roles in more than 70 films.

To close the obituary, Willie’s family encouraged fans wishing to honor his memory to contribute to a cause that was close and dear to his heart.

“Instead of flowers, the family is asking that any donations in his name go to the Coalition for the Rights of the Child,” the grieving family penned.

The Coalition for Children’s Rights It aims to “protect the rights of children living in poverty and those who overcome abuse and neglect by providing free legal services, supportive programs and systemic solutions.”

Willie is dedicated to improving the lives of children in the US adoption care system, and he often has/is involved in fundraising with the goal of assisting adoption efforts.

Garson adopted his only son, son Nathan, in 2009. Nathan, now 20, confirmed his father’s tragic death via Instagram on Tuesday, September 21.

Nathan wrote a heartfelt tribute to his late father on Instagram, which included some of his favorite memories of Garson.

I love you so much, Dad. Rest in peace and I am so glad you shared all your adventures with me and were able to achieve so much. I’m starting to be very proud of you.

Willie is also survived by his sister Lisa Clark and brother John Passamant, as well as three nieces and two nephews.

With a career spanning four decades, Garson has 170 acting credits and is best known for his memorable portrayal of “gay talent agent” Stanford “Stanford” Blatch on the HBO series Sex And The City.

Willie appeared in 27 of the series’ 98 episodes, which ran from 1998 to its conclusion in 2004.

He also appeared in his first feature film, Sex And The City in 2008, as well as its sequel, Sex And The City 2 in 2010.

Just two months before his death, Willie was seen filming a scene with Sarah on the set of the upcoming SATC reboot, And Just Like That…, in New York City.

The reboot, which is expected to premiere on HBO Max later this year, is supposed to capture fans about the lives of the series’ characters and how they have evolved since the events of Sex And The City 2.

On July 24, Willie and series Sarah Jessica Parker also joined the cast of costar Mario Cantone, who plays event planner Anthony Martinino in the beloved HBO series and subsequent revival.

During filming, Garson can be seen placing a kiss on Parker’s face as they perform their lines in front of the Lyceum Theatre.

He was last filmed filming the reboot on August 3.

Speaking to Us Weekly in June, Willy expressed his happiness both figuratively and literally ‘to step into the shoe’. [of Stanford Blatch] again ‘after many years.’

‘It was great. I was just telling my friends… that I was probably wearing $200,000 worth of clothes yesterday,” he said, talking about his first day on the set.’ And it was straight away. He’s like, ‘Oh, that’s us, here we are.’

Since news of his death broke, Kristen Davis, Cynthia Nixon and former SATC player Kim Cattrall have released statements on social media in honor of Garson, many of which included their favorite shots of the late star and him.
