Auckland – An SUV driver whose car was hijacked last week collided with another SUV on Wednesday, injuring several people, police and witnesses said.
At least some of the injured are believed to be juveniles, and witnesses said some were in the stolen SUV. It was not immediately clear how many wounded or how serious they were.
Ambulances transported the wounded to hospitals.
The accident occurred in the 3000 block of Park Boulevard, near 8th Street. The SUV was stolen on October 14 from a woman who was driving in the Laurel area of Oakland, police said. You were not hurt in the theft of the car.
It was not immediately known if anyone involved in the accident was involved in the theft of the car itself.
Both cars were SUVs, according to eyewitness accounts. The hijacked SUV was driving south on Park Boulevard toward International Boulevard when it collided with another blue SUV heading north, according to police and witness accounts.
Witnesses pulled a woman who was driving a blue SUV from the car. I went by ambulance to the hospital with an unknown number of those involved in the accident.
“You’re not going to leave anyone out there when you see it all happen,” said Naul Manzanares, who helped pull the woman out of the blue SUV. “You are going to help. You want to help when things like this happen.”
The police were checking.
