San Francisco Hospital reports 55 employees have tested positive for COVID-19
Of the more than 7,000 employees at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG), 55 employees are currently infected with COVID-19, as of July 31, 2021.
Of these, none of the infected staff members have been hospitalized to the best of our knowledge.
The dominant mode of infection was through community exposure. ZSFG continues to follow strict infection control measures including daily self-examination of staff, ordering masks on campus, and testing all admitted patients.
To avoid further exposure, infected employees are quarantined in their homes, and the ZSFG has plans to ensure adequate coverage for employees.
Breakouts were and still are to be expected. We know that vaccines won’t completely prevent infection, but they are very effective in making hospitalization and death preventable.
Cases among hospital staff reflect what is happening in the wider community as cases rise. We strongly encourage everyone to wear masks in indoor public places and get vaccinated so that we can stop the spread of the virus.”
