A man and a woman were killed Thursday afternoon in the highest apartment building in downtown San Diego.
San Diego Police A call at 3:11 p.m. reported a shooting with two people injured inside an apartment in Spire San Diego, a 45-story building at 1475 Island Avenue in the East Village.
The two victims were declared dead at the scene at 3:31 p.m.
Investigators learned that the man who reported the shooting was a resident of the apartment. He left the scene, but was stopped at the intersection of Highways 805 and 15 and detained for questioning.
Police said the man’s 5-year-old daughter was with him and was placed in protective custody.
