Samaritan Medical Center terminates 28 workers due to vaccination authorization

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown fired 28 of its employees Monday for failing to comply with government vaccine requirements.

Hospital officials say those 28 workers are at all three of its facilities.

The state’s deadline for health care workers to get a COVID vaccination was September 27. That’s when Samaritan suspended any worker for two weeks who did not meet the deadline.

Employees will keep their positions if they are vaccinated before Monday. SMC says 28 chose not to.
