Roulette Man still in hospital after CVS attack – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A Rowlett man remained in the intensive care unit two and a half weeks after Dallas police said he had been attacked at the CVS store in Skillman where he worked.

“It’s been two weeks, two and a half weeks. Yeah, I miss him. I just want him to walk through that door. You know, that’s the most important thing,” said Benny Davis.

Instead, Davis had to make daily trips to the ICU to visit her husband, Curtis Davis.

The 63-year-old is still on a ventilator After police arrested 23-year-old Devon Miles.

On Saturday, October 23, they said, Miles walked into the store, spoke to Davis, and then knocked him down at random.

“When he fell to the ground, he kind of grabbed him and pulled him back and started stomping on his head. Davis’s son, James Davis,” they said, they estimate 15 to 30 times.

With his father still unable to speak, James said it’s too soon to know how much damage has been done.

“It’s time and we’re going to give it to him,” James said.

The family now feels confident that the grandfather of five will survive. But what they can’t get around to is how the man, who they say would do anything to anyone, became the target of so much anger.

With his attacker behind bars, the family awaits sentencing and the ability to forgive as they discover the next several months without Davis’ full paycheck and an uncertain future.

“You know, they say time heals all wounds. And maybe, maybe that’s true. Not enough time has passed,” James said.

You may continue to do it slowly.

But as it happens, they will depend on their faith, each other and an incredible outpouring of support and prayer will bring Davis home.

“It’s that part of the light in the world that seems to have dimmed over the years and is so wonderful to see. For something bad to happen and to be able to see it again is a simple beauty at a very tragic time,” James said.

With Davis unable to work, the family started a GoFundMe to help his wife Penny prepare for potentially several months of hospital visits.
