Ron DeSantis says he is running for re-election; 2024 is ‘the road on the road’
DeSantis made the remarks in an interview with the Fox News host Sean Hannity, Who bought the 2024 presidential election.
“I don’t think about anything but doing my job,” DeSantis said on Hannity Thursday night. “We have a lot of things going on in Florida. I’m running for reelection next year, and we’re also working on a lot of things in the state other than just the governor’s race.”
DeSantis left open the possibility of racing 2024, saying it’s “off the road. It’s not anything I’m planning.”
The governor said he is focused on Florida for now and has an eye on other elections in the Sunshine state besides the gubernatorial election.
“We have races on school boards and I want to make sure that people don’t support the critical race theory,” he told Hannity, “while making sure parents have the ability to send their kids to school the way they want to.” There are a lot of huge issues.”
DeSantis, an outspoken ally of the former President Trump, has raised its national profile in recent years, and is expected to be one of the leading contenders for the Republican Party’s nomination for the 2024 presidential election.
Recent polls have shown him on a par with Trump, who has said he is likely to run.
Trump has been teasing the prospect of being turned on for a while, telling Fox News Digital last month that he’s “reached a point where we don’t really have a choice” but for him running for president repeatedly.
It wasn’t until Friday that DeSantis submitted the papers for re-election, Fox 13 Tampa Bay reports, citing the Florida Department of State’s Candidate Tracking System website.
