Rudd said the couple – who have been friends for more than 50 years – are no longer in touch after their fall in 2018.

Speaking to host Nihal Arthanayake, Rod jokingly asked “Who?!” When asked about his friend, before laughing and shouting “My old man!”

He said: He is my old friend. We don’t talk to each other much anymore. missing him.’

Rudd admitted that they didn’t “keep in touch anymore” because Elton had stopped answering his phone calls, despite calling his children.

He detailed: “I invited his sons to play on the football field and got no response. We haven’t spoken since. He only had hip surgery so I wish him well. We still love each other.

He went on to explain that one of them would make an insulting comment to the other in the press, only to be returned afterwards.

“We have ranks – we kind of talk through the press!” Rudd added.

This comes as Rudd reportedly ended his “hateful” fallout with his old friend in January, saying sorry after nearly three years of feuding.

Things soured in 2018 when rock singer Maggie May mocked Elton’s retirement tour and again in 2019 after he made a biographical note based on his career, Rocketman.

However, it was believed that they made things right and became “buddies again,” with Rod, a father of eight, wanting to set a good example for his children by apologizing.

Rod and Elton have been friends for about 50 years, often making hilarious comments about each other and even using the nicknames Sharon and Phyllis.

Elton addresses their dispute in an entirely new chapter of the paperback version of his autobiography, I. The hardcover original was published in October 2019.

In an excerpt obtained by the publication, the legendary musician was said to say that Rod had a “cool cheek” lecturing him on “rock ‘n’ roll.”

It reads: “I certainly didn’t feel like I needed a lecture on the wild spirit of rock ‘n’ roll from someone who’d spent most of the past decade making their way through the great American songbook and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. ”

“What’s more, I thought he was scared, complaining about me for tour promotion while sitting on a TV show promoting his own tour.”

According to the post, Elton goes on to reveal that he reached out to Rod and told him that they “ve known each other for too long to fall for something like this”

However, Rudd’s manager was reported to have told him that he was unable to speak to him on the phone because he was on “continuous vocal rest” between rounds.
