Carlsbad, California – Rescue teams are searching the waters near Carlsbad after reporting a plane crash about 6 miles off the coast, authorities said.
Immediate details were scarce, but rescue teams – including emergency crews from Carlsbad and rescuers from nearby Oceanside – were combing the area Wednesday noon. The Oceanside Police Department has confirmed that it will be sending its harbor unit out on the water to search for anyone who needs assistance, along with land units that will be stationed close to shore.
A SkyFOX helicopter video showed an array of emergency vehicles along the coast, rescue boats in the water and a US Coast Guard helicopter surveying the area. There was no immediate indication of an aircraft in the water.
The original emergency call area is listed as Carlsbad Boulevard near Solamar Drive.
