Representative Sheila Jackson Lee introduces COVID vaccines and rebuilds a better law for Houston families

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee discussed a number of topics, including vaccinating 5- to 11-year-olds ahead of the holidays and the expected surge of the coronavirus in the winter.

It’s a priority for his family, Father Clarence Mades, to vaccinate his daughter when she is eligible after she has been brought home from school at least twice due to exposure to COVID-19.

“It was March, and she came home and had no COVID,” Madis said. “But we were tested. My wife and I ended up with COVID. We stayed in the hospital for five days, they gave me treatment, and (after) five days I was out of the hospital. It wasn’t pretty. I was in bad shape.”

Representative Jackson Lee said she is sounding the alarm and wants families to be vaccinated before getting together for the holidays. Medical experts also expect another increase in COVID-19 cases after the Thanksgiving holiday and during the winter months.

We have to be prepared,” Jackson Lee told the audience. “Covid-19 cases are rising nationwide, just in time for the holidays. As I pointed out, Dr. Peter Hotez noted that Mother Nature is telling us this is going to happen and there is a 12 percent increase nationally. We will go up to 800,000 (people) They died. We have at least 14,000 to 15,000 (people) dying every day from COVID-19.”

Jackson Lee’s team also indicated that she was one of the lead negotiators of President Joe Biden’s infrastructure bill known as Rebuild better. The $1.75 trillion spending bill proposes making kindergarten free for 3- to 4-year-olds, investing in affordable housing, upgrading infrastructure across the country, and providing funding to combat climate change.

“Let me be very clear, we are not going to be complete unless we get through a better rebuilding plan,” Jackson told me. Also, make sure the president signs it.”

Democrats claim that the spending package will be paid for by tax increases for high-income earners and corporations over 10 years.

“Everyone needs to be vaccinated,” Madis said. “And please vote. This is the only way we can build back better.”
