The imminent arrival of Ralph Rangnick as Manchester United manager is giving life to a new batch of transfer rumors with the window opening next month.
Multiple reports indicate that Rangnick is keen to raid his former club RB Leipzig, with times Flag midfielder Amadou Haidara at the top of his list.
Now it is claimed right-back Nordi Mukele may also be in the Leipzig substitution line for Manchester United.
Graeme Bailey reports for 90Min.com United are ready to check a move for the French defender.
Who is Nordi Mukele?
RB Leipzig signed with Mukiele from Montpellier in 2018, with the team They reported they only paid £14m.
Like Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mukele was eligible to play international football for the DRC, but won his first international match for France last September and is now committed to playing for France.
The defender recently turned 24 years old, he is a regular in RB Leipzig’s starting line-up.
This season, Mukiele scored two goals and provided one assist. Last season, he scored three goals and made two assists.
Last season, Mukiele played at right-back and central defense as part of three defenses.
Mukiele’s contract expires in 2023, which will likely make him an attractive option for United.
Is Mokele the right choice for United?
It is understood that United are looking at promotions for the right-back, considering Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s struggle To advance on the offensive side of his game.
Mukiele’s previous work with Rangnick, and his expiring contract, and potential to improve him further, make him a viable option.
However, from an offensive perspective, Mukiele isn’t the slam dunk upgrade that Wan-Bissaka fans might hope for.
He had fewer assists than Wan-Bissaka last season, and this season he averaged just 0.6 chances created per game versus Wan-Bissaka’s 0.5 chances per game. WhoScored.com.
No move for Mukiele won’t happen until summer at the earliest, we think. The midfield is a more pressing area for the team, and is more likely to take priority.
