Report says Tesla will expand its presence in Palo Alto despite moving headquarters to Texas
Musk said that Tesla will continue to expand its activities in California, including increasing its production Car factory in Fremont and a battery plant in Nevada with a 50 percent stake.
Musk, who said the move in Texas was due to a shortage of space at the Fremont plant and exorbitant housing prices in California, did not say how many people would move to Texas.
Tesla has 12,000 employees in the San Francisco Bay Area, including 750 in Palo Alto, according to estimates by the Silicon Valley Institute for Regional Studies.
Neither Tesla nor HP could be reached for comment. HP, a leading Silicon Valley company, is headquartered in Palo Alto, but subsidiary Hewlett Packard Enterprise has moved its headquarters to Texas.
