Qld floods: Man dies after driving his father in central Queensland floods

A man has died after driving into Queensland floods and it may take emergency services some time to retrieve his vehicle.

A man has died after driving his father out into the river water in central Queensland.

The vehicle was spotted by a member of the public off Gregory Hwy in Hibernia just after 7 p.m. Friday.

“The male driver and the only one in the car have been found dead,” police said in a statement.

“The construction of the vehicle may take some time due to the location and the current weather conditions.”

The forensic accident unit will investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Very heavy rainfall and lightning floods have swept in over the area overnight.
