Court documents, filed Thursday and obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com, reveal that the Duke of York, who denies the allegations against him, has asked Melissa Lerner to join his team.

Lerner is of Los Angeles-based Lavley Singer – a high-profile law firm known for hiding the legal problems of celebrities.

On the same day, the defendant’s lawyer, Andrew Virginia Roberts said Epstein’s estate had agreed to reveal details of a confidential settlement between them and Epstein – which the Duke says could protect him from liability.

Andrew, 61, finally realized he had obtained the legal paperwork for the bomb case this week after repeated attempts to disrupt the process — by sidestepping attempts by his accuser’s legal team to serve him, then challenging the means of delivery.

Virginia Roberts, an alleged victim of pedophilia Epstein, filed a lawsuit against the Queen’s son in federal court in Manhattan, New York, on August 9.

She claims she was forced to have sex with the royal family three times when she was 17 – under the age of majority in the US – after being recruited by a friend of the Duke Epstein.

Andrew has always denied the allegations and has never been charged with any crime.

In a BBC interview about the 2019 car crash, he claimed he had no recollection of meeting Roberts, now a 38-year-old mother of three who lives in Australia and is best known by her married name Virginia Joffrey.

A now infamous photograph, taken inside the London home of Epstein’s alleged Mrs. Ghislaine Maxwell, shows Andrew smiling for the camera with his arm around Roberts’ waist as Maxwell stands in the background.

Lerner, who has represented rock stars in the past, asked to be allowed to represent Andrew in an application, a formal request to be someone’s attorney.

The request, filed in Federal Court, says she is seeking an order “to appear as counsel to defendant Prince Andrew, Duke of York, A/K/Andrew Albert Christian Edward”.

She says Lerner is “in good standing with the California Bar and there are no disciplinary actions pending against me in any state or federal court.”

She adds that she has never been convicted of a felony. I have never been censored, suspended, disqualified, refused admission or readmitted by any court.

The order must be approved by Judge Lewis Kaplan, who is overseeing the case.

The approval should be a mere formality, meaning Lerner would then join Andrew Brettler, also of Lavely Singer, in representing the Duke.

Lerner previously represented the family of late Soundgarden star Chris Cornell in a lawsuit against a doctor who they alleged prescribed excessive drugs to the musician.

Cornell committed suicide in 2017 and his widow Vicki Cornell alleged that Dr. Robert Coplin prescribed a ‘dangerous and mind-altering’ drug that caused her late husband to act erratically.

Terms of the settlement, which was completed in May this year, were not disclosed.

Lerner speaks English, Hebrew, and some Spanish, according to a biography on Lavely Singer. She is a graduate of Princeton University and Columbia Law School.

Lavely Singer is one of the most well-known law firms in the United States and is known for hiding celebrity problems.

The company is headed by Marty Singer, known as “Mad Dog Marty” in Hollywood circles, and stars including John Travolta, Scarlett Johansson, Charlie Sheen and Arnold Schwarzenegger have represented.

Breitler, recently, starred in Armie Hammer after he faced a string of accusations from women who alleged he sexually assaulted them and had cannibal fetishism.

Meanwhile, Roberts has four attorneys representing her from Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, based in New York, led by David Boies and Sigrid McCawley.

Also known as one of America’s most talented lawyers, Boies is known for his forensic cross-examination of witnesses.

On Thursday, Boyce said Epstein’s ownership would allow Roberts’ team to share details of a confidential settlement agreement reached between her and the deceased financier with the prince’s team.

Roberts sued Epstein in federal court in Florida in 2009 and they reached a confidential settlement, which has since been closed.

Andrew’s lawyer argued at a hearing earlier this month that the agreement absolved the royal family of any liability.

Boyce, Roberts’ attorney, said in a court document Thursday that he had requested and obtained permission from Epstein’s estate to share the settlement with the prince’s team.

However, Roberts’ team said the settlement would not protect Andrew because it was “irrelevant to the case against Prince Andrew”.

Roberts was charged last month in federal court in New York with battery and intentionally causing mental disturbance.

The lawsuit alleges that she was forced to have sex with Andrew three times on the orders of his ex-boyfriend Epstein, when she was 17 years old.

It was filed under a law in New York regarding child abuse as Roberts was considered a minor at the time under state law.

The lawsuit alleges that Andrew was one of the “mighty men” that Epstein Roberts loaned for sex.

Andrew relinquished his royal duties after his friendship with Epstein came to light in 2019.

The prince was seen meeting Epstein in 2011 – after Epstein was convicted in 2008 of child prostitution. He said he regretted his friendship with Epstein.

Epstein was found hanged in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan in August 2019 while awaiting trial on new charges of sexually assaulting girls as young as 14 and young women in New York and Florida in the early 2000s.

His death ruled suicide but his lawyers and some family members claim he was killed to prevent him from sharing what he knew about other notable people and influence.

His alleged partner Maxwell, 59, was arrested in July 2020 on federal sex trafficking charges.

She is expected to go to trial in November for allegedly coercing girls as young as 14 to sexually assault Epstein between 1994 and 2004.

The British-born socialite denies the allegations.
