Police: Body found in Shrewsbury pond as missing man – Boston News, Weather, Sports

Shrewsbury, Mass. (WHDH) – Officials said they have recovered the body of a man who escaped to a critical location in Shrewsbury on Wednesday.

Officers initially received a phone call saying a 30-year-old had ran in the woods and may have been in distress around 9:12pm, according to Shrewsbury police.

The search team was unable to locate the man despite hours of searching on Wednesday night.

The Shrewsbury K9 team returned to the area just before 10 a.m. Thursday and followed a small pond.

Then Shrewsbury Fire and Wester Fire diving teams located the victim in the pond. Authorities said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the victim has not been released.

The investigation is still ongoing and no additional information was immediately available.
