A fisherman who escaped from a swarm of bees was eaten by piranhas by jumping into a lake.
The 30-year-old was spending a day fishing with two friends in the Brasílandia de Minas municipality in southern Brazil. When the bee swarm attacked, the three rushed into the water. Two returned to shore when they realized that the lake was teeming with piranhas.
Firefighters later found the dead body four meters from the shore. They said the fish had “torn several parts of the body and the right side of the face.” A preliminary investigation indicated that he drowned rather than die from injuries inflicted by the fish.
