Paul Rudd chose the sexiest man of 2021 alive
Rudd, known for starring roles in the Marvel films “Ant-Man,” “This is 40” and “Clueless,” was revealed as this year’s winner Tuesday night on CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
The actor told the magazine in its Friday issue that some would be surprised to receive the honor.
He said, “I have consciousness, enough to know that when people hear that I will be chosen for this purpose, they will say, ‘What?’ “This is not false humility. There are a lot of people who should understand this before me.”
But of course, Rudd would not refuse this honor. And he jokingly hopes the new title will give him an invite to a “sexy dinner” with George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Michael B Jordan – all new winners.
Other previous honorees include John Legend, Dwayne Johnson, Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Adam Levine, Channing Tatum and David Beckham.
“I think I’ll be on a lot more yachts,” Rudd said. “I’m excited to expand my yachting life. I’ll probably try to get better at thinking in a really soft light. I love thinking. I think this will help me become more inward and mysterious. I’m looking forward to that.”
Rudd’s first big performance came in 1995’s Clueless, a classic starring Alicia Silverstone. He also left his mark in many comedies such as “Anchorman”, “The 40 Year Old Virgin” and “This is 40”, which is part of the comedy “Knocked Up”.
The actor has reached star status in a slew of Marvel superhero movies including “Ant-Man”, “Ant-Man and the Wasp”, “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Endgame”. He will star in the upcoming “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and appear alongside Will Ferrell in the new Apple TV+ series “The Shrink Next Door,” which premieres November 12.
Rudd, 52, said his wife was “stunned” at first after he told her the news. The couple has two children, Jack and Darby who are 17 and who are 12.
“But you know she’s been so sweet about it,” he said of his wife, Julie, of 18. After some laughter and shock, she said, ‘Oh, they got it right. “And that was very nice. You may not have been telling the truth, but what are you going to say?”
Rod expects to give him “a lot of grief” from his circle of friends. He wouldn’t blame them, because he would do the same.
He said, “I mean, I’m going to lean on it pretty hard. I’m going to own this.” “I’m not going to try to be like ‘Oh, I’m so humble. “I make business cards. But all my friends are going to destroy me, and I expect them to, and that’s why they are my friends.”
