‘Once-in-a-generation’ actor David Gulpilil dies

Gulpilil, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017, did not expect to live until the end of the filming of his latest film, My name is Gulpilil, which tells his own story.

However, the 68-year-old lived through to the premiere, where he was credited as a producer for the first time in his career.

“It was no surprise to anyone that he was in front and in the center on the opening night, where he would receive his last standing ovation,” Marshall said.

“He began as a man who lived his country and his culture, and he was a man who took it to the world.

“My thoughts are with his family and his dear friend and caregiver Mary Hood.”
