Netflix to immerse yourself in gaming with ad-free video mobile games at no extra cost
Netflix confirmed on Tuesday that it will expand to video games with ad-free games for mobile devices such as phone games and tablets, offering customers more of their existing service at an additional cost. Representing the biggest expansion into a new kind of entertainment since it began streaming in 2007 and released its first original show in 2012, Netflix has generally embraced broader gaming ambitions. Mixed in the dust, which shows that this console is also in pursuit of sports.
Mobile games will be the main focus, but executives said Tuesday that the devices Netflix already supports are its sports candidates. This will include gaming consoles PlayStation and Xbox, as well as desktop computers and connected TVs.
Greg Peters, Netflix’s Chief Operating and Product Officer, said during a company briefing on Tuesday, “We have a great opportunity to advance and advance the cap capability to improve the quality of game experiences.”.
On Tuesday, Netflix did not specify the timing of its gaming initiative, only noting that it was in the “early stages” and that it was a “multi-faceted effort.” A report last week said that Netflix plans to expand into sports within the next year.
The company has said it will experiment with creating games based on existing Netflix franchises to delve deeper into their favorite stories and characters, but it will also try standalone games that feature entirely real, self-spin-off shows. Or spread in movies. It will explore the creation of media-based games outside of the Netflix galaxy – imagine a book series or a comic-based Netflix game – and it could buy game titles that are already known to exclude Netflix. ۔
One thing Netflix did was make it clear that gaming would not happen, at least not before: a new way to charge you.
“We’re a product company,” said co-CEO Red Hastings. And all of those products have a subscription.
Netflix games will have no ads, will not include game purchases and you will not have to purchase individual titles. Netflix games will be part of your overall membership, as well as horror movies, reality TV shows and award-winning drama series are all part of the Netflix membership.
Last week, Bloomberg reported that Netflix plans to expand its services to video games within the next year at no extra cost. At the moment, Netflix has confirmed that it has hired Mike Verdo, who previously pressured Oculus, Electronic Arts and Zynga as vice president of sports development, but more on that. Refused to comment.
Expanding Netflix into gaming from its business of TV shows and movies as the world’s largest subscription video service. It is not alone in this area. Amazon has invested in Luna, its cloud gaming service, and has its own gaming studio, while Google has invested in its Studio game streaming service.
Netflix recently indicated that it was interested in accelerating its acquisition of the game. The company has previously tampered with sports through its interactive, adventure-style programming, such as the Bender scheme, and through some licensing and business partnerships. But in April, Peters hinted that Netflix’s interest in gaming could grow.
Peters said at the time, “We’re trying to figure out what these different ways are … we can deepen this upbringing, and of course sports are a very interesting part of it. ” “There’s no doubt that sports are going to be an important form of entertainment and an important position to deepen the fan experience.”
As Netflix has grown, it has long pointed out that its competition is even greater than that of traditional TV and film companies that head to it. The company has repeatedly called for gaming phenomena such as Fortnite, as well as user-generated video powerhouse YouTube, as it has the toughest competition to collect a wide range of entertainment hours worldwide.
“We think it’s time to learn more about how important our members are to the game,” the company said Tuesday.
