Natalie Morales Stopped To Save The Talk

Natalie Morales is on her way to saving The Talk after Sharon Osbourne’s disastrous exit from the show, according to DailyMail.com.

The West Coast host on NBC’s Today Show and Dateline reporter announced Friday that she is stepping down from NBC News after 22 years in the business.

Morales, 49, said she will be seeking a new opportunity as she is dropping out of the Today show and wrapping up her work on Dateline in the coming weeks.

She will continue to appear in Dateline’s 30th season for the remainder of the year.

DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal that Morales is heading to The Talk.

“We need to salvage the show after Sharon Osbourne’s disastrous exit,” a CBS source told DailyMail.com.

Natalie is a lovable news star and her charisma can help change the conversation.

“With Natalie joining Jerry, we think we have an opportunity to float and repair a sunken ship,” another CBS source said.

NBC declined to comment. DailyMail.com has contacted CBS for comment.

In a statement on Friday, Morales said, “To Dateline and Today Show Families, It’s so hard to say goodbye…and we all know in this business that there will never be goodbyes but see you later. “I am forever grateful for the support,” Morales said in a statement on Friday. And deep friendships that will remain no matter our path.

I’m having a hard time finding the right words and there are so many people I need to thank for a great career at NBC News.

Morales will move to The Talk to replace Osborne, who was ousted from the show earlier this year after a racially charged discussion with fellow host Sheryl Underwood.

Osbourne alleged the incident was orchestrated to make her appear racist for defending her longtime boyfriend Piers Morgan, who had described himself as a racist for his criticism of Duchess Meghan Markle.

Osbourne lost her job at The Talk and was effectively canceled by social media, which led to a series of death threats against her and her family.

She told DailyMail.com she had to hire a 24-hour guard and underwent months of ketamine therapy to deal with the shock.

Morales began working for NBC at its WVIT station in Hartford, Connecticut before moving on to work as a broadcaster and reporter for MSNBC from 2002 to 2006.

During the first half of her career, Morales covered the 2000 presidential election, the September 11 terrorist attacks, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the 2003 Northeast Blackout.

Morales joined The Today Show in 2006 as a national correspondent before being appointed as co-anchor in 2008. She eventually replaced Ann Curry as Today’s official news anchor in 2011.

In 2016, Morales moved to the West Coast to host Access and became the Today Show West Anchor.

Although she walked away from hosting Access in 2019, Morales remained the West Coast host and in 2020, it was announced that she would be joining Dateline as the official correspondent.

During her time as one of NBC’s biggest names, Morales covered the 2011 royal wedding between the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the 2012 Boston Marathon bombing and the 2017 Las Vegas massacre.

Morales, fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, also translated the 2010 Chilean miner’s rescue into Americans glued to their televisions, helping NBC win the 2010 National Headliner.

Morales herself won three Daytime Emmy Awards as part of the Today cast, as well as a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Awards and three Gracie Awards for Outstanding Reporting.

“The first half of my life was full of adventures, challenges, travel, many early wake-up calls, and yes opportunities to watch history unfold and tell inspiring and poignant stories that will always be on my mind a reel highlight,” Morales said.

Speaking of that reel: I’ve watched my family grow up alongside many of your children, and as my oldest son prepares to spread his wings and head off to college soon, I also feel like the time is right, (before the second half of my life) to spread my wings and pursue a new adventure. “

I am forever grateful for the support and deep friendships that will remain no matter where our paths lead us. I have a lot to be grateful for and each of you who helped me get here… muchísimas gracias mis amigos. “
