Winter Haven, Fla. – The city of Winter Haven isn’t exactly “a hundred acres of wood,” but inside Deb Hoffman’s house, it certainly feels that way.
For over 50 years, Deb has collected thousands of Winnie the Pooh items. Between her home in Winter Haven and her second home in Wisconsin, there are more than 20,000 unique items.
Deb laughed and said, “I think I’m crazy and I’m fine.”
Deb began his collection in 1967 with a one-poh telephone. Mountains of stuffed animals, coffee mugs, cell phone cases and much more.
“Everyone in life should have something they’re passionate about,” said Debbie’s husband, Gary. “If he’s excited and happy about this collection, I’m happy for him.”
Deb officially set a Guinness World Record for pooh items in 2009. Back then, he only had more than 4,400 items, which he now owns a quarter of.
Along with Deb’s collections, there have been visits to Pooh, including to the home of AA Milne, who wrote the original children’s series.
“It brings a lot of joy and a lot of fun to our family, hopefully it makes someone else do it,” Deb said.
