BOSTON (WHDH) – An impressive Red Sox ball girl play has captured the attention of some of the major league players.
Camille Desrochers’ catch during Match 5 of the ALCS drew applause from fans and even the opposing team..
“There was a guy right on the bat and I was like, ‘Well, if it comes this way, I’m ready to get it,’” DeRochers said. “And I just saw that, and I saw the wrong referee of course, I don’t want to touch a fair ball.”
The Framingham State University softball player is in her first year as a Red Sox girl, and while she’s had two fouls this season, the playoff is first.
She said, “Korea actually showed it on TV and gave me a round of applause which was great and then the third referee told me most of the stars in the hole gave me a round of applause which was fun.”
DeRochers can be seen sharing the moment, passing the ball to a young fan in the stands.
“There are always so many cute little kids out there who like, ‘Please give me the ball,’” she said. “So any chance I get next to give the ball to a little kid is just awesome.”
As with the rest of the Fenway Faithful members, Desrochers said she has her eyes on Do-or-die 6 in Houston.
“And then hopefully, if they do well, the world championships will be a few games at Fenway and hopefully I can get one but we’ll see,” she said.
