But even though he played all but the last 14 minutes of the game at the Hawthorns, Arteta still sent a warning that he wasn’t fit yet.

“He didn’t start the season, he came from Covid, he looked strong,” Arteta told Sky Sports when asked about Aubameyang’s performance.
“Obviously these were the first minutes he played with last night so he needs some rhythm and physically he hasn’t been at his best yet.
“But he looked good tonight. He played outside, he can play inside, it will depend on the game plan, the players we have, whether we play with two strikers, it will depend.”
Aubameyang will now look to play an increasing role against him Manchester On their Saturday lunchtime visit to the Etihad Stadium.
