Michael Parkinson Apologizes To Meg Ryan For Infamous 2003 Interview: ‘I Played In It Too’

Sir Michael Parkinson have apologized to Meg Ryan During his infamous interview with the actor in 2003.

The chat show host once welcomed Brian as his guest BBC She appears to promote her sexy movie which was not well received in the cut.

The ensuing frosty chat between the pair became one of the most memorable encounters ever, with Parkinson’s growing frustration with When Harry Met Sally star.

Accused of not enjoying his fame, he eventually tells Ryan Parkinson: “Finish it.”

Now, 18 years later, the TV host has offered an apology to Ryan for his behavior during the interview.

Thinking about the moment, Parkinson – who retired from television in 2007 – told Radio Times: “I wish I hadn’t lost my temper with Meg Ryan. I wish I could have dealt with her in a more courteous manner.

“Obviously I was angry with her and it is not my business to be angry with the guests. She came across as a bit of a brag and I could have done better.”

When asked what he would say to Ryan if he saw her again, Parkinson replied, “I’m sorry. But you have to understand that you played a part in it too.”

“None of us were at our best, and we were bothered,” the 86-year-old added.

The announcer’s latest statement is a departure from his earlier comments about the moment.

He has previously described Ryan as an “unhappy woman”, while Ryan has called Parkinson a “nut” and criticized him for speaking to her “like a dismissive father.”

Ryan said Marie Claire: “I don’t even know the guy. This guy was like a disapproving father! That’s crazy. I don’t know what it is for you guys, but he’s crazy. I felt like he was scolding me for being naked in the movie.”
