May Wu, Charlie McAvoy serving Thanksgiving meals at Pine Street N – CBS Boston
BOSTON (CBS) – Several communities across the state had dozens of volunteers who came forward to lend a helping hand to those struggling with homelessness and hunger this Thanksgiving.
One of those was the Pine Street Inn, where Boston Mayor Michelle Wu had the privilege of carving a turkey with some help from Bruins star Charlie McAvoy. Then hot meals were distributed with all the fixings.
“This is my third year of Thanksgiving here,” said one of the women, “and they’re doing a really great job for us.”
“There are so many people out there who need help and to be a part of it, I am really happy. The foundation does a great job at so many things – not just on Thanksgiving but throughout the year – so I am always happy to help them in any way I can.
Dinner has been served outdoors for the past two years due to the pandemic.
