Gordon Mondel from the UK is said to be married to First Sight and broke up with his long-term girlfriend before joining the show.

One Twitter user even claimed that the 27-year-old personal trainer only told his ex-wife that he would be on the show a few days before it aired.

But Gordon has since responded to the negative press, urging fans to be “kind.”

In his Instagram Stories, the MAFS star said: “All of us are real people so just be kind, it’s easier to be kind than bad, it takes a lot less energy.

“Social media is a very powerful thing, so let’s use it for the right reasons in a positive way.”

Back on Married at First Sight UK, Jordon has opened up about his hopes of finding true love on the series.

He said, “My perpetual happiness is to learn things about myself that I did not know before.

“I want to get stronger as a person and obviously walk away with a partner and some new friends.”

But things weren’t quite to plan when he flew to the Maldives for a romantic honeymoon with Alexis and the couple ended up in a huge row.

Gordon told his new wife that he just saw them as “friends” and that she wasn’t his type, adding later that he didn’t like how much he swore by her.

Alexis then replied, “I think you’re in cuckoo land. What girls are you used to?”

“Are you used to this?” Yes, Jordan. No, Jordan. That’s what I used to and guess what? I am not one of those children.

“This is how I talk to children and it won’t change.”

Then Jordan chimed in, “It’s ridiculous,” leaving Alexis alone at the dinner table.

Defending his actions, Gordon has now told his Instagram followers, “TV works in mysterious ways. You can shoot for 14 hours and you only use 20 minutes of that so things get modified a lot.”

“There’s a lot you don’t see because there’s not enough time, you never know the whole story except what you see on TV, so it’s important that you don’t get lost in the episode too much.”
