Marcus Lamb, founder and president of the conservative and controversial Daystar Television Network, has died after a battle with COVID-19, his network and family announced Tuesday. He was 64 years old.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Marcus Lamb, President and Founder of Daystar Television, has returned home to be with the Lord this morning,” the network wrote on Twitter on Tuesday. “The family asks for their privacy to be respected as they mourn this difficult loss.”

Lamb’s son Jonathan and wife Johnny confirmed the news on Tuesday’s DayStar broadcast, saying he died around 4 a.m.

“He was diagnosed with COVID and then had COVID pneumonia. But he had pre-existing conditions,” Johnny said. “He had diabetes, but he kept it under control.”

“It caused his blood sugar to rise and his oxygen level to drop,” she said. “He 100% believed in everything we talked about here at Daystar…we still stand by that, obviously.”

“His life was really good and there is no doubt that he heard ‘well done my good and faithful servant’ when he entered the gates of heaven,” Jonathan Lamb wrote on Twitter with pictures of him and his father. “I will really miss my dad. We have played golf together every week for the past 15 years. He has influenced me by showing me a livable way and helped me become the man I am today.”
