Marcelo Bielsa picked a strong starting lineup for tonight’s Carabao Cup match against Crewe Alexandra.
Adam Furshaw has made his first-team debut since September 2019, coming back from a lengthy thigh injury and having a full pre-season schedule under his belt.
Diego Llorente also returned from the injury he suffered recently against Real Betis in the summer, and the Spanish defender was a key component of the defense last season. He was joined by Jimmy Shackleton, Pascal Strwick and Junior Firpo in defence.
Spain international Rodrygo has been selected as the white shirt striker, supported by Tyler Roberts in 10th place, while Elan Mesler retains his spot in the net.
Completing the line-up, Marcelo retained Calvin Phillips and Jack Harrison from the weekend, with Helder Costa replacing Bravenha on the right wing.
The bench is also full of first-team players, with Luke Ailing, Stewart Dallas, Patrick Bamford and Matthews Klit ready if they need to be called up. They are joined by Christopher Clayson, Charlie Cresswell and Cresencio Summerville under the age of 23.
Leeds United’s 11th kick-off: Maysler, Firpo, Llorente, Strwick, Shackleton, Phillips, Forshaw, Harrison, Costa, Roberts, Rodrygo.
Subs: Clayson, Aaling, Creswell, Dallas, Cleche, Summerville, Bamford
