Manchester City player Benjamin Mendy charged with four counts of rape | Manchester

Cheshire Constable has confirmed that Manchester City player Benjamin Mendy has been charged with four counts of rape. City also suspended the French international player pending investigation.

In a statement, the force said: “The Cheshire Police Department has allowed the Cheshire Police to charge a man in connection with allegations of sexual assault. Benjamin Mindy, 27, is accused of four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

“The charges relate to three complainants over the age of 16 and allegedly occurred between October 2020 and August 2021. Mindy has been placed in police custody and is due to appear in Chester Magistrates Court on Friday 27 August.

“Chesher Konabolare and the Crown Prosecution Service would like to remind everyone that the criminal proceedings against Mendi are live and that he has the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there is no reporting, commenting or sharing of information online that could in any way harm the ongoing proceedings.”
