JAMES TOWN – A 34-year-old incarcerated man was stabbed to death in a state prison here nearly two weeks ago, but officials waited until Monday to announce the incident.
Hubert Watts, 34, was stabbed to death October 6 at the Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown, where he spent more than three years in prison with a seven-year conviction for theft outside of Glenn County. Authorities said he died less than an hour after he was stabbed around 8:30 a.m.
Appeal suspect, Carlos B. Hernandez, 50, has been in prison since 1993 for child molestation, firearm assault, rape and kidnapping in Los Angeles County. He was due to be eligible for parole next year.
This was the first murder in prison since 2013.
